PIONEERS IN ADVANCED FIBERGLASS PIPING SYSTEMS

Filament winding fiberglass pipes (FRP)

Pipe wall structure: Filament winding fiberglass pipes consists of three sections: liner, structural wall and topcoat.

  • The liner provides chemical corrosion resistance. This resin rich layer is manufactured with “C” glass veil and “E” glass mat and has a nominal thickness of 1, 2,5 or 5 mm.
  • The structural wall provides the mechanical resistance. The reinforcing material consist of “E” glass roving. Wall thickness depending of the diameter and design data.
  • The topcoat is the finishing layer and protect the pipe from U.V. rays. It consists of low weight synthetic veil and it is particularly rich of resin.

Use of Pipes in Fiberglass piping

  • To increase the pipe stiffness (SN), a proper thickness layer of pure siliceous sand impregnated with resin is interposed between the roving layers, creating a “sandwich-type” wall structure.
  • For above ground piping systems, a colour pigment can be added during the production process. Pipes are often red for firefighting and green for cooling water pipes.
  • Piping systems can be made conductive by adding black carbon during the production process on request.
